As part of Dads 80th Birthday - which was in March - as a family we rented a house very close to the castle in Alnwick, Northumerland, England for a week.
We as a convoy drove down on Saturday 6th May 3 cars only I didnt take mine - found the house - nice and large, and just had dinner and did a short walk around the area.
Sunday was basically a leisurely day with a nice roast lunch at a local cafe with Mike and Vicky - Allans parents as well as us. Later in the evening mum, dad, Susan and I played a good game of what is effectively 3 dimensional scrabble.I watched the grand-prix highlights in bed - boring and on quite late
Wandered round Alnwick, looked at the outside of the castle, then yesterday - Monday the 8th went to Alnwick Gardens - from which there are loads of photos.
As part of the gardens where we stayed most of the day - there is the largest tree house - in the world? - which was very nice and is the wood structure shown near the end of the photos.
As Susan is working as normal on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I have Chinese lesson Tuesday evening we drove back up on Monday night. We shall return on Thursday morning. Obviously Allan returned on Sunday evening for work he is planning to return on Friday evening.
